The BMW Z4 E89 is the second generation of the Bavarian manufacturer’s famed two-seater roadster. For a car company that places driving pleasure at the very top of its list of deliverables, it’s interesting that the number of two-seater models it has is few and far between. The Z4 E89 replaced the original Z4 E85 and was produced from 2009
The Z4 is good, in general, but it suffers the nature of BMW's choice in suspension design. BMW likes to use the bump stops as part of suspension design, and they generally lack bump travel. Compression damping is mild, and most of the work is done with rebound. In stock trim, the setup is so-so.

Rear end grip levels on the road are reassuringly high and, although the 35i E89 is less hardcore than the previous E85 3.0i rag-top (and feels a tad heavier than the latest 18i) it still dispatches sweeping B-roads with aplomb. Road tax, though, is ÂŁ290 a year and the official combined consumption figure is 30.1mpg.

From my readings of online forums and reddit, the first filter would be the engine, and the most reliable seems to be the N52B30. Afterwards, as a driving experience, it looks like the E86 Coupe 3.0si would be better suited than the E89.
Improving the handling for most drivers, is rated as a top priority mod in your Z4 tuning project. Good suspension tweaks that often enhance handling for the Z4 include a couple of degrees negative camber and somewhere between 1 to 1.5 degrees of toe in or out on the front wheels. Toe in for stability, or Toe out to improve cornering.
Difference between pre and post facelift Z4. I've only had my Z4 a few weeks, it's the post facelift model. The only difference between mine and a prefacelift (at a glance) is that the lights are different. I've searchd for a post explaining the differences but haven't had any luck.
